If Cuomo is indicted or arrested, then Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul would be governor. The first female governor of New York. A historic feat, but a moderate Democrat from Upstate New York. I wonder if Hochul would run for election in 2018 or she would be primaried?

My thinking is that she would face a fierce primary and probably lose. I have a hard time seeing Downstate Dems accepting a moderate from suburban Buffalo without a fight.

Who would win the primary? Bharara?

Probably either Di Napoli or Schneiderman, Bharara gets talked up he's repeatedly stated he won't go into politics iirc. Though if several non-Hochul Dems run she'll prob skate by on a plurality by locking up Upstate, and if De Blasio is her only challenger then I would expect her to win by (once again) locking up Upstate and also peeling off anti-De Blasio Dems in Westchester/LI, but I'm willing to bet it would be relatively close (within a few points or so).
