Unless Biden resigns or opts not to run again for some reason, the VP spot will be open for only one party, so we'll have to put up with only half as much inane speculation and overstating of the running mate's effect. Not as much "neighboring state advantage", "similar state advantage", "primary state advantage" (basically believing that a candidate is particularly popular among an entire state due to winning it in the primary), the belief that delivering their home state is the main criteria in choosing a running mate (why do people keep believing this? You'd have to go back to 1968 to find a running mate chosen specifically to deliver their homestate.) and all that other nonsense we had.
