Why does this vote have such an absurd name?
"To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide earnings assistance and tax relief to members of the uniformed services, volunteer firefighters, and Peace Corps volunteers, and for other purposes".

Because "To give a massive handout to big corporations" doesn't sound so good.

I agree with Torie though that some form of this will happen by the end of the week. Luckily it might not be as bad, maybe they can cut it a couple hundred billion down at least.

So, I wonder what the leadership will do now. I figure they can either tack hard-right and get rid of all the regulations and just pass the $700 billion or go hard left and add in enough extra stuff to bring in the progressives.

Yeah. Sadly, I know which side seems to have more votes.

But which are more swayable? Most of the hard righters are opposed to the bill in theory. I mean, is there any way possible to get Ron Paul to vote for this?

Remember that amendment posted awhile back to withdraw from the WTO? Of course Sali wasn't in Congress then but we know what would've happened.

I think a general rule of thumb is this making Duke miserable is proof it was the right thing. A shame he'll probably try to forget his misery by drugging some poor girl though.
