Gore actually won a few mostly white counties in Alabama. Try to find such a thing in Mississippi.

Texas isn't really that socially conservative at all

hahahahahaha. Yeah, I'm sure most Texans are fine with abortion and hold enlightened views on gays (which is why Texas didn't fight to defend its sodomy law or anything). And the Religious Right and the Southern Baptists aren't very strong in Texas either.
