1 is a huge blow.
second doesn't hurt the GOP among swing voters really, but does motivate the left to turn out more.
three also isn't so big, but might depress turnout a little, and gives the Dems a new issue.
And of course there's a culmination of other events. I think Katrina is still the main source of the GOP's woes now. That made everyone get upset at the government, and since then they have yet to do anything to fix that mindset.
