Side note: this is exactly why it's really annoying when people always reply to every news story on her with sarcastic "YAY! GO GIRLBOSS!" type comments. NO ONE is saying that about her now. She's pretty hated by all wings of the Democratic Party and yet they still internally bicker over her somehow.

The thing in regards to the vetting talk (note: I see jfern has posted here but I have not taken him off ignore to be able to read his posts) is that while Sinema had a record in the House that was quite to the right of the median Democratic Representative but I think the general mindset was that such a candidate was needed to win in Arizona and that she'd probably just end up mostly being a generic D type in the Senate with a few performative grandstanding votes. The first is dubious and the second was obviously WAY wrong...but was generally true before Biden. Things like voting to approve Bill Barr is pretty cringe (like how many swing voters even care about that?) but made no difference in effect since Barr would've been confirmed without a single Democratic vote. Since then though Sinema has gone out of her way to obnoxiously distance herself from the Democrats and sabotage their agenda with no real clear reason as to why (unless she legitimately believes this "focus on bipartisanship" nonsense...which I simply can't believe would be the case with someone of her age and political history.) We can probably write this up to a lesson learned and I imagine future Senate candidates will have more skepticism over a rather conservative record. But the reason she got in isn't surprising in hindsight and isn't because the Democratic Party is secretly controlled by people well to the right of Joe Biden and 48/50 Senate Democrats. Furthermore she had no credible primary opponents*...maybe you can blame the DSCC for scaring them off, but it's absurd to think they're happy with that now. Furthermore as I noted above this poll shows that anger with Sinema is pretty widespread amongst all Democrats, sarcastically dumping on her being a girlboss or whatever as a swipe against people who still love her for idpol reasons is just as much railing against non-existent people as IceSpear's endless spam about people who thought the Democrats could win back West Virginia if they became more "populist" or whatever.

*"Credible" being the key word here, some weirdo perennial candidate or DSA member or whatever doesn't qualify.
