Everyone keeps saying this debate was an absolute disaster.  A "s--tshow" is the word everyone's using.

We should be clear.  Trump was a s--tshow.  The debate was a disaster because Trump made it a disaster.  Biden was fine and did the best he could.  The problem is that Trump refuses to obey the rules of the debate, refuses to obey the rules of common decency or decorum, and refuses to participate in civil discussion.

It's like if Biden was forced to deliver a speech at a concert venue where one of BRTD's awful midwestern christian rock bands was playing at 10x the volume.  He can only do so much when forced into that kind of situation.  It's a disgrace that the debate ended up like this but it's 100% because of Trump.  Anyone who just declares the debate a "s--tshow" needs to clarify that.  This isn't a "both sides were bad" or "both candidates were awful" thing.  Biden tried his damndest to give a dignified and respectable, presidential performance.  It was just impossible with a poop-flinging gibbon constantly interrupting and screaming nonsense the entire time.
okay a few things to point out here:

1-"Midwestern emo" as a genre obviously developed in the Midwest but it's very much a worldwide sound now and the pioneering bands were from Denver and Seattle. It's hardly a Midwestern thing now.
2-There's not a whole lot of Midwestern emo Christian bands that I can think of....the only context in which "BRTD's Midwestern Christian rock bands" makes sense as a genre. You're probably thinking of Christian melodic hardcore, a related but distinctly separate genre. There were a couple with a Midwest emo sound like Noise Ratchet, Cool Hand Luke and Twothirtyeight but they were from San Diego, Nashville and Florida. Glow as Ember, the first emo band from North Dakota would be an example but hardly anyone from outside North Dakota remembers them.
3-Most Christian melodic hardcore bands don't come from the Midwest. It's more of a coastal thing. Although I do enjoy some notable ones from Iowa, Michigan, Indiana and of course Minnesota.
4-Most of these bands do not call themselves Christian because they dislike the connotations and being pigeonholed into such a label...they have some songs with Christian themes but they don't distinctly try to be Christian like "Christian rock" implies. Plus they play at secular venues, with secular bands, often on secular labels...etc.
5-If Biden wanted to give a speech at such a show they'd probably let him do so between songs because a lot of bands give speeches on SJW politics type stuff anyways between songs so really Biden would fight right in and if it wasn't for Covid these would be great campaign event opportunities. Well one caveat, he'd fit right in if he'd use the adjective "f[inks]ing" before basically every word because that's basically what every hardcore vocalist does. But regardless examples of this can be seen between songs here and here. They even directly reference Trump at times!
