Trying to think of some Canadian punk or (non country) indie band to put next... can't think of anything right now. Light rockish entertainment, aye. Loads.

I was actually trying to make a Canadian playlist for last night but I ended up just listening to Buffalo Tom the whole time. Besides the blatantly obvious Arcade Fire there's By a Thread, Moneen, Grade, Cursed, Godspeed You Black Emperor, The Flatliners, Living With Lions, Propaghandi, The Weakerthans, Fifth Hour Hero, Breakwater, Republic of Freedom Fighters*, One Eyed God Prophecy, Jonah, Drift (the last couple are mostly very obscurish emo I doubt anyone else here is familiar with granted.)

*I though this band has the most forum-esque name ever. It is so awesome in that. BTW they don't sound anything like you'd think a band with a name like that would sound like. They were one of those 90s emo/hardcore bands that was so humorless and artsy that you can't be certain they weren't a stealth parody.

I know that there is no way you found this band besides my last.fm.

Oh and how the hell did I forget Boys Night Out?! They are my most played one on last.fm after all.

For Today - Ezekiel

This song reminds me of the 2012 election...

I'm surprised I haven't heard of Girls at Our Best until now because of the whole post-punk thing.

They're French, so it's possible they aren't entirely aware of how annoying it sounds.

And what's odd is they don't sound French at all. This style of hardcore is pretty unknown in Europe except the UK. It's mostly a Canada/northeast type of thing. Weird. Most French hardcore has a really distinctive sound to it that is unique to the country (much like Italy, and to some extent Germany though the German sound is more a mixing of various influences that typically isn't done exactly that way outside of Germany.)
