For his last year in office Zell Miller hada 96 from the ACU, the same as Rick Santorum. He is not a moderate or a populist, he is a far far right winger. He is not close to the Democratic mainstream in any way. And since jfern supported Kerry, he is automatically more of a Democrat than Zell.

I'll have a map up shortly.

Back then Las Vegas wasn't so developed and Nevada was a sparsley populated mostly Mormon state and very Republican. However Montana had a strong populist streak (and still does to some extent) and was much less partisan. It was very winnable for Democrats.
