I turned down moving to Iowa earlier (I came to the conclusion that it would be something that I would inevitably regret in at least a year) but I am close enough to actually witness the action first hand. I'm thinking about a Des Moines trip prior to the caucus, see the craziness first hand and maybe even attend some rallies. Oddly enough I've always seen the Iowa caucus as something distant, ignoring the fact that I could conceivably drive there and back in a day.

Might have to plan pretty far ahead though, because I'm sure getting a hotel in Des Moines that week will be an utter nightmare.

You should try and register as a Republican and join in the caucuses!

I can do that in Minnesota due to lack of party registration, but no chance of that occurring in Iowa unless I'm able to either somehow establish residency there in the next two months (not likely now) or obtain a fake ID and be willing to commit felony voter fraud.
