I was going to advise that it would probably be easier to just try the opebo route for awhile until I realized that you won't have the money thanks to no job now and the pyramid scheme scamming you that you're stuck in. So tough to say what to do.

OK I have one comment. I find that the fiancee giving the ring back to OKBush's parents rather than to the man himself, a possible indicator of several things, none of them very reassuring, and a couple potentially quite disturbing. In any event, normally a mature person would meet with the chap, explain what is going on, and why she things the marriage is a bad idea, etc. What we may have here are two very immature people, looking for love in all the wrong places. Or maybe not. Just another thing to ponder.

The opebo method is clearly healthier.

As someone who rushed into marriage too quickly and still feels the profound psychological effects of that mistake to this day (and probably always will, given it's gotten worse if anything with time), my advice to you is this: consider the fact that other than having children it is far and away the most important decision you will ever make and will have the most profound effect on your happiness or lack thereof for the rest of your life.

If you have even the tiniest shred of doubt in your mind, you shouldn't do it.

Well, we're going to give it a month, or until about Labor Day, to kind of take a break and assess where we both stand.  If you were to ask me right now, I have no doubts and no reservations.  I'm still going to take advantage of this next month to relax and focus on other things and take a good look at my feelings, my goals, my dreams, and what I want in this marriage.  She's going to do the same.  We will talk to each other on the phone every now and then, but we may not see each other very much.  As of now, my mother is still in possession of the ring and will remain so until Susan and me decide that we want to continue.  Susan told me today that she does want to keep April 9, 2011 intact.

Torie, I read part of the Wikipedia article on bipolar disorder and from what I can tell, she has the lowest level of bipolar (bipolar I).  She does have her mood swings, but they are not as severe as people with bipolar II.  In fact, sometimes I think I have a very mild case of bipolar disorder as I have some extreme mood swings.  The thing with her is she has never been, to my knowledge anyway, suicidal nor does she ever use any illegal substances to calm down.

Cut and run.  Seriously.  She is a head case you don't need. You have a job, have a house.  She's offering NOTHING to the table.  She sounds like she's taking advantage of your good nature.  As you get older, women will get more desperate and YOU enter the drivers' seat.

Uh, no. He has an involvement in a pyramid scheme.

You have the potential to date attractive, educated women.

No, he doesn't (blunt honesty here). He can probably at least find a woman without all of these expansive "medical issues" though... and a woman who can work instead of sucking from the public trough while at the same time bitching about the federal government/Democrats/social programs/etc.

Well he did claim that Tiffany or whatever her name was was rather hot, though with his standards who knows and with the way that ended up that may not be the best example...

Like I said, he might just want to go with the opebo method. Fast, easy and no heartache. Or the cougar-hunting route, which I've had some recent success with. So has Naso of all people apparently.

Looks like a round trip from Oklahoma City to Bangkok runs around $1300. Cheaper than the wedding.

I'm assuming these Texas trips are from Facebook? If so that's even more sad. Oklahoma City to Ameriplan HQ is a 3 1/2 drive one way. Oklahoma may have some of the cheapest gas prices in the country, but even if you get 30 miles to the gallon that's more than $30 per trip.

The 18-25 one is probably working at some lame non-alcoholic "youth club" or something. That's my guess from the "loud music and upbeat environments" thing. Kind of funny that people are disgusting it possibly being prostitution considering my suggestion to BushOklahoma is that he should be hiring them. Of course he needs a job first. One that at least tells you what the job is in the ad preferably.

My parents have you all beat. They paid $250/month for a four bedroom house (in the 80s and early 90s...but still.) Granted that was renting only since home buying in that area is almost impossible (pretty much everything is owned by the tribe or federal government) and if you saw what the houses looked like you'd understand why.

I think I'd prefer hard labor to a call center job

Hey I work a call center job. It's not so bad. Though we take only incoming calls granted.

Hey I work a call center job. It's not so bad. Though we take only incoming calls granted.

Maybe I'm just equating it to the Dell customer service calls I make to India where the person is forced to ask me questions like "is your computer plugged in?"  Not I look down on such people, they probably have obtained higher educational degrees than me, it just seems frustrating.

I'm not sure what your job is, but I imagine Oklahoma, due to an extremely low cost of living, is probably an ideal place for a generic American call center.  I'm not sure how Minnesota factors into thatt

I'm senior tech support. No script, no flowcharts, none of that. It's all in my head. Those idiots you sometimes get calling in who clearly are following some script and don't know what they're doing really won't be there very long, there's a lot of turnover and attrition at first. However we keep hiring and hiring even during this recession, so for all that quit we get plenty of replacements. I see BushOklahoma as the type who wouldn't last long. Quite frankly someone who believed that ON Company and Ameriplan were fantastic career opportunities isn't someone I want helping me edit my computer's registry.

Call centers in Oklahoma require you to wear a suit? LOL, good thing I don't live there.

Minnesota has kind of a reputation for being rather casual about this sort of thing. In fact dressing up can be considered rude if the circumstances don't really call for it.

This is not really a call center, it's just customer service.  I'm going to investigate what that means when I go for the interview.  Call centers around here are generally business casual with jeans allowed on Friday and Saturday at some places.

Uh, so call centers have a dress code at all? Most people wear jeans all week at mine, including management.

Wasn't it due to him advertising his Ameriplan crap?

I find it amusing that his "excuse" is essentially a flat out lie (I guess the "family emergency" could arguably pass as just really really stretching the truth but hardly the bit about his position being filled.) And as most people mentioned, a really weak lie.

Quite shady. Google Maps even has most of those "erotic massage" places around here, most of which are basically illegal. I even once found a blatantly illegal house venue on it.

Hahahahahaa. This is too good to make up. Seriously.

I'd once again advise that he head off to some temp agency so he can do data entry for six weeks and at least being doing something that isn't a scam in the meantime, but we all know he's not listening. Besides after that finishes he'd probably just go to another scam job.

BushOklahoma will have an interesting tax filing though, that's all I'll say.

OK let's do some math. Bushie says he's getting $1600/month. Let's assume that is in fact guaranteed. He mentioned having to work 11-13 hours days 6 days a week. We'll give him an hour lunch so he's actually working 10-12 hours a day. That equals 60-72 hours a week. We'll assume he averages 66 hours a week then. There's around 4 1/2 weeks in a month. So that equals 297 hours a month.

1600/297 = $5.38/hour

Federal minimum wage = $7.25/hour

And actually that's not even taking into account he should be getting time and a half for all his OT, which is 26 hours a week. So he should be paid for the equivalent of 79 hours a week, 40 from the base and then 26 * 1.5 = 39. 79*4.5 = 355.5. 1600/355.5 = $4.50

Bushie is working for barely over what the minimum wage was just raised to in 1992.

Minneapolis is kind of weird. It's poorer than most suburbs but has a far higher rate of college degrees than most suburbs. Obviously that's because all the poors without degrees drag it down a lot more than the middle class people in the suburbs, but I do like to brag about how we are far more educated than the places I bash.

It runs against the stereotype of cities suburbanites have greatly though. I doubt Detroit has a higher rate than its suburbs. The problem is that most suburbanites think all cities are like Detroit (and that all of Detroit is like the areas people associate with it.)
