I can't vote one way or the other on this one.  I always enjoyed rooting AGAINST my high school but at the same time I, therefore, wanted the other school to have cheerleaders so they would win.  It's whatever.  This isn't important.  Slight lean towards FF for it's effect on forced sexual repression. 

I know I'll get prude shouted at me for this, but honestly I view cheerleading as an outcome of the sexual repression in US society. SSM is the great human catastrophe of our lifetime. The elephant of inequality is sitting in the middle of the room, but people are too self-hating, uneducated, and apathetic to see it.

Half of the country has conferred upon itself a title of nobility, and subsequently helped themselves to whatever they please. Allowing gays to exercise the same right is not a solution to anything.

I may risk going into psychobabble here, but there could be more than 'race' and 'white guilt' here. Rachel Dolezal is a bright daughter of Christian fundamentalist parents  who put her in a gilded cage. Czech ancestry? This is not likely a home in which the music of Smetana, Dvorak, and Martinu (they are delightful composers!) are a disproportionate part of the music on the stereo. This is the homogenized, shuttered world of fundamentalist preaching and scolding. Most likely it is one of sexual repression in which the sole purpose of sex is to have Christian fundamentalist children in huge numbers. An intelligent girl is likely to reject this view of life and seek something very different.

Race may not be an overt problem for religious fundamentalists. Christian Protestant Fundamentalism accept non-whites should they accept the package of Biblical literalism, cultural blandness, and sexual repression. Getting the opportunity to get as far away from that environment as possible, she went to a historically-black university with intellectual rigor. Not only did she discover African-American culture; she also discovered secularism which permits a greater variety of possible plans in life than marrying early to have lots of children to be harnessed to a stilted view of the world.

Just imagine that she had attended Brandeis University, a well-regarded Jewish university. She would have discovered a world view very different from that of her parents. She might have still gotten a degree in Fine Arts... and ended up marrying some wonderful Jewish husband who introduces her to, among other things, the music of Smetana, Dvorak, and Martinu; such music is fully compatible with Jewish life as it was in Czechoslovakia when the country had a large and influential Jewish majority before Satan Incarnate (Hitler) took the country over in 1938 and 1939. Finding Jewish life so attractive at the least for intellectual freedom and gender equality, she converts to Judaism. She raises her children Jewish and starts assuming that her Swedish and German ancestors were really Jews. Her parents are incensed!   

Just imagine that she had attended Notre Dame, and fell in love with some sophisticated, intelligent, decent Polish-American Catholic from Chicago. He introduces her to the sort of culture that one would expect of well-educated Polish-Americans. He gets her to discover her Czech heritage, and she fits in. Her art often becomes heavily devotional to the Virgin Mary. Her parents are incensed!

If the shooting actually happened, his punishment should be having to watch racial cuckold porn on rerun forever. But, I'm of the opinion that this whole thing was a false-flag. Way too many things don't make sense about this incident. The kid had a black friend who said he never said anything racist, the FBI "just happened" to be having an active shooter drill on the exact day of the "shooting", and the victim's family members just look like terrible actors. Seriously, how are you going to tell me that their family members were just slaughtered?

Not to mention, this story conveniently checks all of the boxes on the agenda of government control.

Justification for gun control? Check.
Justification for govt control of the Internet ("I wasn't raised racist, I became radicalized online!")? Check.
Justification for defining domestic citizens as "terrorists" ("this shooting was an act of terrorism, it's absolutely critical that we recognize and describe it as this!")? Check.

And to top it all off, the family members of the "victims" are being given $29 million by the Federal government. You seriously think they would give that much just to "help them recover"?

The only sensible response is surrender. It's time to lay down and accept reality. The fight is over, and SSM should be treated as settled law for all eternity. It's sad that SCOTUS has chosen to endorse sin, but it's the way things are and the fact is that the world is not going to end and straight people are not going to be forced to marry gay people. It's time for complete surrender.

Voting for a sin-favorable ruling, as 5 justices did here, is the exact opposite of rebuking.

If it were, it would look something like the Massachusetts Bay Colony with more advanced technology. In reality, modern America looks like Sodom and Gomorrah on steroids. Abortion, homosexuality, fornication, divorce, drunkenness, pornography, greed, covetousness and a whole host of vile sins are commonplace in modern America. The United States is the largest producer of pornography IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. It has one of the highest divorce rates IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. Over 90% of Americans have had pre-marital sex. The American entertainment industry, an extremely wealthy industry with tons of influence over the population, relentlessly and brazenly pushes every sin in the book.

The Bible says that evidence of a genuine faith in Jesus Christ is a desire to serve God and obey His commandments. American pop culture, in all its in-your-face hedonism, suggests that most people in this country do not have that desire. I am NOT implying that works bring salvation. Salvation comes only through faith in Jesus Christ. What I am saying is that good works are evidence that a person has genuinely been saved. I am also not trying to imply that Christians never sin; every single human being on this planet, myself included, is a sinner. What I am saying is that if you're a Christian, you are supposed to strive as a matter of course in your life not to sin. You are supposed to be ashamed of your sins and not want to engage in sin.

I'm Jewish, and I believe that this deal is better for the safety of Israel in the long run than no deal at all. To disagree with that opinion is fine, but to deem it self-hating is just stupid.

Edit: Now I read that Franken also skipped Bibi's speech, I see my opinion confirmed. Really, it's no conincidence that Jewish senators were disproportionately absent at Bibi's speech: three (Franken, Schatz, Sanders) out of eight (the others being Leahy, Heinrich, Kaine, Warren, and Whitehouse), while there are only ten Jewish senators. That's because they don't feel comfortable with their Judaism. It makes them feel guilty about being bad Jews. Israel's existence makes them feel guilty. It's easier for these senators to keep their people at a distance.

What is the "scene"?

It's an umbrella term for a subculture based around a bunch of loosely related musical genres, offshoots of punk but not exactly what most people think of when they think of "punk".

At first I thought you were talking about the BDSM scene, because that's the only time I hear people talk about "the scene". That would also be an interesting question.

Does scene still exist? Anyway, I was in high school when I did and yes, the overlap with Evangelical Christianity was huge. Not really surprising. Both are suburban movements based around malls or mall like buildings. If your family is Evangelical, they are most likely lame and live in some horrible suburb, and if you live in a horrible suburb, Fall Out Boy seems relatively punk.
