My guess is that Zimmerman regrets what he did, is remorseful for what he did, and struggles with the fact that he ended a kid's life.

Uh no. Mostly likely what he thinks is along the lines of "Har har, I took out a dirty n****r." He's an all around terrible person.

Nobody claimed that Zimmerman is the devil. They claimed he is a murderer, which he is, regardless of whether or not he decides to lend assistance to people in slight to moderate peril in other situations.

Zimmerman has claimed that he has absolutely no regret for what he did, but whether he's telling the truth isn't really for us to determine. People can be weird like that. Even if he does regret it, that doesn't excuse or make it better either. One has to work a lot harder than this, or be acting in the service of a much higher cause (real or perceived), to atone even for far less sketchy takings of life.

I'm glad you have the evidence to convict him as a murderer.  Unfortunately the prosecution didn't.

But again, this is all about scapegoating.  You want George Zimmerman to carry the burden of hundreds of years of racism and a shoot-first, ask questions later culture without looking inward into yourself one bit.  You want George Zimmerman to be made an example of.  So you can feel better about yourself.

But unlike Zimmerman, Nathan has never killed a black kid.

Zimmerman probably has as much remorse of feelings of guilt over killing Martin as Bashir al-Assad's security forces do over gunning down hordes of innocent people, that is none at all.

Zimmerman is a jackass and someone is dead because of his idiotic paranoia. The guy is pure trash. Neighborhood watchmen are bad enough, but at least they are usually just nosy assholes, not killers.

I see stupid neighborhood watch signs in some neighborhoods but doubt they are patrolled by vigilante jackasses. Or really do anything but put up signs. Neighborhood watch in Whittier is near impossible since its always full of people not from the neighborhood.

The only way Zimmerman ever would have received equal punishment is if he got the death penalty. I doubt you're suddenly for that just for political expediency.

(And just by the by, I am not one of the crowd who thinks that this alone makes up for what he did. In most cases, I do believe in redemption, but it takes a lifetime of doing, and rightly so.)

I've said before that I don't support the death penalty, but if I did, I would support it for Zimmerman.

Well I don't arbitrarily follow black kids around my neighborhood that are "suspicious", or call 911 every time I see someone I don't recognize, so I will never provoke anyone like Zimmerman.
