I actually liked the episode except the ending. It was packed yes, but in that sense kind of reminded me of classic Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Lab episodes that were similar (since they were only 12 minutes long.) Obviously an attempt at a kind of Les Miserables' telling of the story through mostly songs.

I agree about the ending though. Would've been OK for a series finale since it started with Twilight Sparkle as the mane character, but I have no clue how they're going to do this in season 4. Maybe just ignore it and argue season 4 is a prequel to this episode.
