Finally saw Captain Phillips at a second run theater (though the showing was sold out). This is a rare movie where the intensity only increases, it starts out slow, and even the initial boarding by the pirates isn't all that thrilling, but by the end it's quite intense and thrilling. The pirate leader nominated for Best Supporting Actor (who is actually from here, though not surprising for a Somali-American) did do a great job, I don't know if I'd call it Oscar nomination worthy but very impressive for someone's first ever acting role.

The Wolf of Wall Street

Didn't really feel like a Scorcese film at all aside from the fact that he's not good at trimming films down to a decent length. Really insane surrealist comedy stuff. But I suppose it is basically like Goodfellas with a white collar criminal instead of a gangster. Leo should do more outlandish scenery chewing roles like this one and Django rather than the subduded ones he's usually in, he does them better than almost everyone.

I ♥ Huckabees

Stupid movie. Couldn't stand it despite being perhaps in the tailor made target demographic...well not quite, I suppose I'm not a philosophy grad student. The only scenes in it I liked were the beginning and the one sampled here, the whole reason I watched it.

The Lego Movie

I enjoyed it a lot, though probably would've more had I not heard all the reviews and hype first. It's just a fun 100 minutes.
