For the record, Kuala Lumpur may have rather irregular and expensive flights into Europe, so it is perfectly reasonable that Beijing would be a layover point. Singapore might have been more convenient, but it might have been more expensive. Who knows? There are lots of answers to this. It's not particularly easy to fly from point A to point B in Asia is my point, anyway.

So NSA is listening everyone in the world, but can't find an huge plane?

We live on a rather large planet.

Alright, so first, we have the engine data. The engines were in the air longer than the transponder was on. That indicates that the plane would not have been shot down before radio loss. After that, anything else is pure speculation.

Can we talk more about this idea to have a fourth of the passengers be federal officers? I, for one, think it's wonderful.

But we have to be realistic. For international flights between Malaysia and China, surely 1/8 of the passengers being US Federal officers would be sufficient.

Ah, yes, I apologize, I was not being quite as pragmatic as I could have been.
