The Treasury Department announced Wednesday that it would lift financial sanctions on Deripaska’s aluminum company, United Co. Rusal, as well as En+ Group plc and JSC EuroSibEnergo in 30 days, after Deripaska agreed to reduce his ownership stake in each of the companies to below 50 percent.

If he has reduced his ownership stake to below 50%, he isn't actually the owner any more. He is a minority shareholder.

I concede your point there. Proving that will be another thing though.

I hate to laugh at someone for having gout, but if I have to laugh at someone for that, what better person than Manafort?

Paul Manafort Does Indeed Have Gout

Even the Rosenbergs were only charged with espionage. Also, by the time any death penalty could be applied, Trump would probably be dead.

We're getting closer to the 'invasion of Sicily' moment when Trump's supporters on the GOP will all turn on him at once, especially now Trump has caved on the wall.

We're getting closer to the 'invasion of Sicily' moment when Trump's supporters on the GOP will all turn on him at once, especially now Trump has caved on the wall.

Which 'invasion of Sicily' are you referring to?  There are so many.  The one in which the Athenians overplayed their hand during the Peloponnesian War and lost decisively, or the allied invasion after North Africa was secured from the Nazis and General Rommel expelled with his army?  And then there's the Roman invasion that led to the Punic Wars, and ultimately resulted in Rome -at the expense of Carthage, it's closest rival- becoming the undisputed master of Mediterranean world.  And I haven't even touched on the medieval period yet.

I think the implicit comparison is being made of il douchebag Trump to il duce Mussolini, and therefore the reference is to. If this is really the right analogy, then I guess Putin must be Hitler, and eventually after things go too far downhill for him there will be a Spetsnaz raid to rescue Trump from the clutches of Mueller, but it will turn out to be for naught.

I was referring to the Allied invasion at which point Mussolini was ousted by his own Grand Council.

Why can't House Judiciary just summon Trump himself?

Isn't the legislature supposed to hold the executive accountable? In the UK, the PM regularly appears before a Commons committee.

All voluntarily it seems. Unlikely to happen with Trump.

Statute of limitations would run out for a lot of offences if he got a second term. This said, considering the health impacts of the presidency and the fact he's already an obese man aged 72, he might not necessarily be able to enjoy his liberty very much.

Also, that would likely limit any jail term. Which prison guard would want to wipe Trump's backside?

In the UK, that could be appealed as unduly lenient.

Seven years for Manafort. Buh buh but Rick Wilson told me he’d die in prison.

He may well do so, the man turns 70 in less than a month and is allegedly not in the best of health.

He has gout.

Yep, Trump isn't going to be shown Mueller's report until it's published.

There are still 12 active investigations going on in other fields. Let's not forget that.

It is possible that the actual level of collusion was limited; Russia's stuff was done mostly independently and Trump knew very little about it. But he certainly did later on and tried to stymie the investigation.

SDNY would be the logical conclusion.

It might be a different investigation under their purview.

Can't the Democrats just summon Mueller directly and ask him in a public hearing?

Not surprised that Barr would lie. If the appointees in this administration told me it was raining, I'd go and take a look myself.

They could, but it probably wouldn't pass the Senate any more than doing Trump would.
