Reading through the comments in this thread really reinforce why I'm a Sanders supporter, whether he wins or not. And why I'm glad Sanders doesn't self-identify as a Democrat or a Liberal.

This is somewhat off-topic, but I find the people like yourself (green avatars and the left-wing independents) so much more tolerable to read and interact with on this forum than the rank partisan red avatars. It is really refreshing to hear perspectives that are free from tribalist dogma.

Here we go folks, the establishment media's first major attempt to take down Bernie Sanders. Of course coming at it from an identity politics perspective, just like they've always done.

Question: Why is this just dropping NOW? Coincidence the establishment is fretting about him winning?

Did you take this exact statement from a previous Breitbart trump-supporter post, but just substituted the name "donald trump" with "Bernie Sanders" ?

No, I have no clue what you're talking about here.

Proud Trump supporter here (in case any of you might not be aware). I'm thinking of voting for Bernie in the New York primary to #StickItToTheEstablishment. Should I?

Yes. I will do the same in Wisconsin.

I wanted to post this as a separate thread but I thought it would be fine here:

How will the media react if/when Sanders wins Iowa?

How will they inevitably try and downplay his win? Will they say its an effective tie? Will they say it was inevitable that he would win Iowa and that Biden/Warren showed 'impressive' numbers?' Will they go with the talking point of Iowa and NH being super white states and that explains his victory? Lots of ways they can potentially spin it.

I predict the following headline from some major paper or cable news outlet 'Sanders comes out on top in Iowa, with other candidates right behind him' or something to the effect of that.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) apologized to former Vice President Joe Biden (D) Sunday night after an op-ed by a Sanders campaign surrogate published in The Guardian accused Biden of corruption.

The Vermont senator told CBS News that he regretted the message published by Sanders surrogate Zephyr Teachout, who does not hold an official role with the campaign but has endorsed and introduced the senator at his rallies.

"It is absolutely not my view that Joe is corrupt in any way. And I'm sorry that that op-ed appeared," Sanders told the news channel.

His statement follows a Sanders campaign press release that circulated the op-ed to supporters and members of the media, with the heading of the press release reading "Joe Biden has a big corruption problem."

Pathetic. If Bernie keeps this up, let's the media and establishment candidates walk all over him, apologizing for anything his people say or do that's the slightest bit provocative, he deserves to lose. The voters currently supporting Joe Biden have no reason not to vote for him if the depth of his attacks don't go further.

The nomination is no longer Biden's to lose. Bernie's much better suited to win than in 2016. Fingers crossed that the race keeps trending in his direction in the lead-up to Iowa. He really might just win this thing.

Sorry but the numbers on page 12 of this poll would indicate that this is still Biden's to lose. Although yes he is definitely in better shape than in 2016.

Bernie Sanders has overtaken Joe Biden in the betting markets average and is now the plurality frontrunner. The first time it has happened ever.

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/elections/betting_odds/democratic_2020_nomination/

Some other interesting facts:

Joe Biden is still at one of his highest points he's ever been at
Warren is at her lowest point since June 2015
Bloomberg continues to rise, is at 13%
Bernie Sanders once had a 6% chance to win the nomination in October, lower than Buttigieg and even Hillary.

Unidentified Man, who also ran for prez in 2016, joins HRC in the Sanders criticism game:

Quote
“Bernie’s still being given a bit of a free pass by the national media,” [O'Malley] says. “I do not believe that he would be a strong candidate for our party in the fall. And, except for three months out of every four years, he’s not even of our party.”

Sanders sits in the Senate as an independent, a democratic socialist, the “d” very much lower-case. He may be 78 but he’s popular with the young. Since leaving office, O’Malley has taught at Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, Boston College and Carnegie Mellon.

“I would frequently tell my students, ‘Look, I know in my own generation we fell for the Nigerian prince scam, but how do you all fall for the Bernie Sanders scam?’ I don’t get that.

“Here’s a guy who has been a kind of stalwart of the National Rifle Association, a man who said immigrants steal our jobs right up until he ran for president, a guy who said the sound of John Kennedy’s voice made him nauseous.”

In what world?

Luckily no one cares what Martin O'Malley has to say. Not even his students.

Sitting in the lobby restaurant of the Renaissance Savery hotel, Kerry was overheard by an NBC News analyst saying "maybe I'm f---ing deluding myself here" and explaining that in order to run, he'd have to step down from the board of Bank of America and give up his ability to make paid speeches. Kerry said donors like venture capitalist Doug Hickey would have to "raise a couple of million," adding that such donors "now have the reality of Bernie."

I was a Kerry fanboy for a long time, but...JFC. Just read all of that.

Kerry is right. He is deluding himself, hard.

Morning Joe bashing Bernie for 17mins straight now. And McCaskille says he never get negative ad to run against him. Why the ads when they are freetime 17min negative now?

I was literally about to post that. Wanted to see a little of what they had to say before I leave for the day but at least Joe tries to be somewhat fair, Chris Matthews has a massive hateboner for Bernie.
