Feminism itself is of course FP, but what it has devolved to in the modern day is pretty awful.

What, in your opinion, has it devolved into? I'm just curious, (mainly because from my vantage point, feminism is a lot healthier than it was in, say, the 70's).

Basically the ramblings of how sexist society is and how women are so oppressed by social norms (which can just as easily be applied to men). Instead of ideas to fix actual problems, they argue that they need to rise up to the hierarchy that they oppressed by, its quite hyperbolic.  Also, the people who call for censorship of video games, movies, and pornography because of how women are portrayed are terrible.

I'm a total feminist in that I don't believe in gender roles at all, and of course I'm favor of equal protection and treatment for any job or role in society. However, when people get nanny-ish about how women are portrayed, or how people think about women, I don't really see that as an attractive movement.

"Equal" is a quantitative term that isn't very useful in qualitatively describing human beings. There is no objective measure of human greatness so a person or group of persons cannot be "equal" anymore than they can be "greater than" or "less than" one another. It's silly to say that both genders are "equal" just as it's silly to say that one gender is "superior." They're just different.

Aren't you supposed to be a libertarian?

Your powers of observation are impressive indeed. What gave me away? Was it the avatar?

Well, the avatar was my first clue. But then I started to doubt that once you said that people can't be equal because people are different, which sort of flies in the face of social libertarianism. Unless social libertarianism is no longer about freedom through equality.

I think he's more or less saying that people are all unique and therefore not equal in a measurable way on a social or scientific level. However, I think feminism addresses the equality of protection and treatment of said group (women) rather than equality of status.
