The Senate: 20 are women, 16 (80%) are democratic while 4 (20%) are republican

Blue = 2 men
Red = 2 women
Green = 1 man, 1 woman

Now of those women, how many are republican or democratic?

With just men, the senate would have 80 members. 41 would be republicans, 37 would be democrats, and 2 would be independents who would likely caucus with democrats.

The House: 79 are women (18%), 60 are democratic (76%) while 19 (24%) are republican. I'm not going to do a map because the values are too low (I don't want to go into the code and adjust them, plus the light color would look terrible too), but here are the states that do have women representatives.

AL: 2/7 = 29%
AZ: 2/9 = 22%
CA: 18/53 = 34%
CO: 1/7 = 14%
CT: 2/5 = 40%
FL: 6/27 = 22%
HI: 2/2 = 100%
IL: 4/18 = 22%
IN: 2/9 = 22%
KS: 1/4 = 25%
ME: 1/2 = 50%
MD: 1/8 = 13%
MA: 2/9 = 22%
MI: 1/14 = 7%
MN: 2/8 = 25%
MO: 2/8 = 25%
NC: 2/13 = 15%
NH: 2/2 = 100%
NM: 1/3 = 33%
NV: 1/4 = 25%
NY: 7/27 = 26%
OH: 3/16 = 19%
OR: 1/5 = 20%
PA: 1/18 = 6%
SD: 1/1 = 100%
TN: 2/9 = 22%
TX: 3/36 = 8%
WA: 3/10 = 30%
WI: 1/8 = 13%
WV: 1/3 = 33%
WY: 1/1 = 100%

Of those women, what percentage are dems/reps by state?

With just men, there would be 356 total members, 215 republicans (60%) and 141 democrats (40%).

After 2014:

Men pickups in NC, LA. Women pickups in WV, IA. Net gain of zero, still 20 women in the Senate. But now its 14/6 Democrats instead of 16/4.

In the House:

Women pickups in:

AZ-02
CA-45
FL-02
MI-12
MI-14
NJ-12
NY-21
NC-12
UT-04
VA-10

Men pickups in:

HI-01
MN-06
NH-01
PA-13
WV-02

Net gain women +5. There are now 84 women in the House of Representatives. Five of the new women are Republicans, 5 are Democrats. In total now, 62 are Democrats (74%), 22 are Republicans (26%).
