I'm pretty sure various terrible things have occurred due to something being taken out of or not view in context.

Ok fine there could be extreme scenarios where you should bend over backwards to decipher the inner workings of someone's mind. But we're not not diplomats or military planners. We're informally discussing whether this dude said something racist.
