It's a lifetime appointment. She's not under some moral obligation to play politics with it.

Even if Biden wins and Dems get the Senate, she can just wait until the 2022 elections or maybe even 2024 elections to see how they go first before retiring. 2 months is enough time to confirm a successor. No need to rush.

If they follow the normal process I think they can rush it in a few weeks once they have the nominee. Of course in theory it can be done with 2 votes, one to change the rules, and another to confirm.
