Possible vps.
Janet Napolitano (Arizona)

I might actually support the Dem ticket if she's the VP so we can get her out of here!  I would just fear the assasin in that case.

I would say about 75% chance.  Most of the big name Republicans have dropped out and her poll numbers remain high for some reason.  I still think it will be closer than expected but barring a misstep I don't see her losing.

I'll give her one thing she is a skilled politician.

If she wins, she takes McCain's seat in 2010. He's got to retire by then.

At least he'll have a more conservative replacement.

lol, I don't know about that.  Despite her image in the media, she's pretty left-winged.  We'll just say her and McCain share nearby property on the political spectrum Smiley

Hopefully by 2010 there will be some Napolitano fatigue and Reps Hayworth or Flake keep that seat in Republican hands.  If somehow McCain is elected president she'll probably appoint state party chair Jim Pederson to the seat.  He's eyeing a challenge to Sen Kyl (no way).  Honestly, I'm not sure where AZ law stands on special elections for a vacated seat.  Maybe Carl knows.
