I think the numbers are legitimate, and that this was the best news Obama could expect in the circumstances.  Ideally, they would be better than January 2009, but it has been clear that wouldn't happen and nobody expected it to be better.

REPUBLICANS WERE EXPECTING BAD NEWS TODAY AND THERE UPSET THEY COULDN'T FAIL AMERICA.

Which Republicans?  I've been talking about this since after the debate and indicating that they could be good numbers.
