New York State has been airing television commercials promoting Lower Manhattan, starring Pataki in NYC, Los Angeles, Chicago, D.C., Philadelphia, San Franciso, Boston, Atlanta... obviously a move to bolster his image.
That waste of taxpayer money will end after Spitzer destroys Pataki in the 2006 election.

NYC needs tourism and really must promote after 9/11. It's like Rendell promoting Phila; it helps the economy.
I'll add that the "I love New York" -type campaigns have been going on for at least 20 years,
if not longer.
