Another example that I forgot to post above is Jefferson buying lands in Louisiana.  The constitution says nothing of buying land.  But he used the right to govern territory to defend his purchase of it.

And the argument in favor of a living document ITT in general.

If you keep having children when you can't afford the ones you already have, that's child abuse and your children should be taken away.

Some would say it's child abuse to break up families for having the temerity to be poor.
