Of those states you mentioned, Texas, North Carolina, & Georgia are "heavy" Republican states.  California is heavy Democrat, Michigan leans Democrat and Florida is up in the air.  And you forgot Oregon which votes ONLY by absentee. 3-Rep 2-Dem 2-tossups ... Not really heavy Republican if you ask me.
