Sorry to interrupt the discussion, but what happens this past Friday is absolutely devastating.

I have never thought that I would see two of my friends in body bags nor would there by a drive-by shooting right where I live.

Sure, out Isla Vista community is infamous for extravagant parties, but never anything like drive-by shootings.

So sorry for your losses. I hope that something-anything-good or decent can come out of the aftermath of this tragedy. Maybe that's naive; but whatever.

I also know some people who go to or went to UCSB (my older brother, for example-he graduated a few years ago though, but he lived in Isla Vista as is typical of many UCSB students). But no one I know was killed or injured.

Just senseless. Sad Again, sorry for your loss.

That's fine.

I am not the crying type. Some of my friends used to joke that I probably don't have tear ducts, yet I broke down and cried.

Sadly, I don't think there's much that can be done since he obtained the firearms legally. That said, this man is mentally disturbed and his father has already reported on him prior to the incident.

My condolences. Sad I know a few people who are going or have gone to UCSB and I can just imagine how horrified they must be right now.

Well, it's not so much that we are horrified (we are not); it's that the sense of safety in our community has been shaken.

You should ask what my fellow Gauchos how they feel. (This is in front of IV Deli Mart.)

RIP Katie and Veronika. I will miss them. Cry

On a side note, I was also able to talk to Chris's father, Mr. Martinez at Harder Stadium. And just to be clear, I DO NOT know Chris nor had I ever met him. That said, I consider the conversation I had with Mr. Martinez to be very important even though it was brief. [No photos, sorry.]

Right, the gun humpers need to have their deadly weapons. Can't inject some sense into matters, even after even more people get murdered in cold blood. Their Second Amendment fundamentalist ideology is more important than the right for people to live their lives without getting shot by some coward.

These days, ever Republicans I met need guns with extended magazine and no background checks and I have a large sample since my house (not university) is in one of the most conservative parts of California.

One of my friend "had" to go shoot an AR-15 at a gun range when she was 16!

Republicans will always have access to entertainment as long as gun-control liberals, who rarely know anything about guns, continue to tell everyone the proper way to use guns and own guns. It's like letting children dictate driving regulations.

Nah. It's like letting drug cartels regulate drugs since drug cartels know more about drugs that most other people.

It's unfortunate that 4 people that I knew lost their lives this weekend: two friends and two classmates.
