I like the Tesla pick.
Some others: Robert E. Lee, Henry Ford, Charles Lindbergh, Douglas MacArthur...
Tesla was a far smarter man than Edison. I don't like Edison much. He was a jerk.
Why?
He treated Tesla in a horrible manner. He told Tesla he will pay him $60,000 if he did a bunch of really, really tough things, in a very short period of time. Edison thought it was impossible and thought Tesla was just some immigrant idiot from Europe. Well, he did do it, and more, and Edison said he "joked" about paying him. Right. So, Tesla resigned.
Edison and Tesla then had a brutal competition going how to power homes. Edison advocated DC (direct current) because it is simple. Tesla advocated AC. He designed the Niagra Falls Power Company's generators. He designed the entire AC system, including how power will be distributed, stepped down near neighborhoods, and stepped down for houses. He designed it all. He was a great man.
