I have seen a chart on RCP for the 2010 midterm generic ballot, it actually had Democrats winning the generic Congressional ballot against the GOP up until July 2009. It was very back and forth for the rest of the summer and fall. How did the early Congressional special elections go at this time back in 2009? Was the big GOP surge apparent then?

Democrats were literally winning everything and even gained a seat in Upstate NY.

To build on this, Dems were overconfident going into '10 because of their results in these specials
