So, I get condemnation for browning meat for nachos?  Typical, but sad.

No, you get condemnation for consider nachos part of a "diet."

I never said that.  I don't deserve ANY condemnation for my choice of supper tonight.

Do you still consider yourself on a diet? If so, ground beef, Tostitos and salsa are not typically elements of a diet, particularly not as a full meal. Good work using the stove. You might as well admit that there is no dieting happening at all ... otherwise you'll continue to get called on the carpet for this stuff.

On another note ... here's a blast from the Update past that I ran into in Sioux Falls SD:

Good morning, guys.  I see you have been busy condemning me over night.  Pathetic.  I'm better than your accusations and condemnations.  Anyway, I am about to leave for Shawnee to go to the doctor.  I should be home between 1200 and 1300.  I hope to have dinner with my church friends at Buffalo Wild Wings this evening.  Again, there is nothing wrong with hanging out with friends.  What would you want me to do?  Decline the invitation to fellowship with good, godly friends just because they are going to an unhealthy restaurant?

I think they'll be happy if you don't stuff your fat face with a double-bacon cheeseburger and fries, instead opting for one of the healthier items on the menu like grilled chicken and a salad or mixed vegetables. "Hanging out with friends" doesn't have to be an excuse for another cheat meal on your imaginary diet.

I understand the implications and dangers of high cholesterol.  I know I've got to make a change, a real bonafide change.  I'm going to try, but I won't post my food choices on the forum that way I don't get clubbed by the forum and I don't lash out in anger and falsely accuse.

Did you ever consider that these people are trying to give you good advice, and they get offended because you spit in their faces and do the opposite?

Also, is anybody really angry at Bushie when we tell him to eat a salad instead of nachos? I think the anger and lashing is a projection of ODF's feeling when he reads he cannot eat ground beef as a diet.

I really wish Bushie would change his mind about stuff.

Here's a wishlist I have for Bushie:

1) 30 minutes of exercise a day
2) Daily pushups/situps/crunches (only 10/25/10 would at least do something)
3) Drink diet soda only
4) Have a daily multivitamin
5) Drink V8 V-Fusion or something to at least get some fruits/veggies in him
6) Cut bread intake

I think you are greatly overestimating both Jeff's abilities and the benefits of these types of activities at this point. Maybe he can think about these types of exercises after he's shed 100 pounds. Until then, cardio and basic movements ought to be his focus. God Himself couldn't get Jeff to do 10 push-ups or 25 sit-ups at this point.

Let's stop all this silly exercise and diet talk. We know full well it makes no difference whatsoever. The only thing ODF can commit to is a shortened life span.

Here's a more fun topic: Jeff, what will you be eating tonight at BWW?

But 10 pushups/25 situps/10 crunches a day is absolutely nothing.  You can do that in 1 commercial break.

Yes, I can. He can't. And don't compare it to a TV show where a drill sergeant is screaming in their faces. Jeff needs that, but he doesn't have it. He'll never do a push up in his life. Ever. You want him to be healthier? He should start by walking.

I have been downgraded to a Severe Thunderstorm Warning that is in effect until 8:15 pm.  I have had two storms come within 2 miles of me either side.  I still have power and my car is still in good shape, so I won't have problems going to work in the morning.  The cold front has come through and it is dropping our temperatures and pushing our severe threat to the south.  Unfortunately, there has been one fatality in a trailer park in Sand Springs, a west suburb of Tulsa.

How about this for a season XXIII title?

But in a tragic clerical error in the Update space time continuum, tomorrow is Work Day 666. RIP.

Just a typo. In that bizarro universe, Bushie just slim-fingered the keyboard.

Good Monday Evening!  I am home from an awesome day of work!  Despite being very sore right now, today was a great day.  Like I said earlier, today was all meat prep for Wednesday's Grand Opening.  2 days down, 4 to go on this work-stretch. I talked to the department manager and he said the 0400-1230 shift is very uncommon and is only happening to me because of the first week of the store.  Next week, I should get back to a little more pedestrian schedule.  I may still work 0500-1330, but I shouldn't have too many 0400-1230.  Although, I don't what's the difference between getting up at 0200 or 0300...  Now, onto some serious relaxing!

Bushie, you JUST started here and you plan to stay.  Why are you going to the manager and bitching about anything?

We were just in casual conversation while cutting chicken.  I wasn't complaining at all.

Hmmmm... I suppose.  Be wary of what questioning can be interpreted as to your new bosses, Bushie.  There's no need to bring up every little thought you have pertaining to your work.

The hours don't bother me at all.  I can adjust to whatever hours I'm given.  As long as I get paid for those hours and still have ample time off to relax and do stuff I need to, I'm fine.  I'm not tied down by a wife or children, so I am more free to work whatever hours I'm given.

To HD, Gustaf, Eraserhead, etc. --

Maybe I'm giving him too much credit here, since "casual conversations" have actually been complaints in the past, but I don't think Jeff is being dishonest here. When everyone starts at zero-dark-thirty, fatigue can become a talking point:

"How are you feeling today, Jeff?"

"I'm doing really well, although I'll sleep well tonight! That 3:00 am alarm comes pretty early!"

"I hear you ... although shifts that early are actually kind of rare. We're just doing that because we're preparing for the grand opening."

Again, I could be completely off ... maybe he did waltz up and say, "So how long will I be doing this?" But I doubt it, at this point.

----------------------

Jeff -- one thing you must learn if you ever desire that white-picket-fence career you long for: hours are irrelevant. You do what you have to do to get the mission accomplished. You have to take care of your personal life (and, maybe one day, a family), but clock-watching and career advancement are two very separate ideals. If you want more money, a better career and to build a much more comfortable future, you may have to make sacrifices in the present, ie: work more than an eight-hour day.

I'm not quite as concerned about your current position as others seem to be, but I do think the constant talk about "we should get out early if we start cleaning by 1900" and how time-bound your shifts are indicates that you're still an eight-hour-a-day kind-of guy.

Nothing wrong with that ... just understand that eight-hour-a-day people reach a career ceiling relatively quickly.

Jeff, what happened to putting all of your energy and effort into making this job work, and working hard so that it could possibly become a career? I'm reserving anger, because I have a feeling you're attempting an April Fool's joke ... but if not, you are simply repeating the same cycle you always do.

And there is absolutely something wrong with accepting a job, starting it, claiming you love it, and looking for different work two weeks in. You've made a commitment to this employer, and they have spent time and effort on you ... and your looking elsewhere not only reneges on the promises you made to yourself, but it shows dissatisfaction when you claim there is none.

Unless, of course, there are issues which you haven't mentioned.

If you don't really it's an April Fools Day joke I'm not sure how you can claim to be smarter than Bushie.

This is like a black hole, I've spend the last 2 hours reading this. It's fine line between being extremely funny, and extremely depressing.

What's the history with Bushie?

There are 21 other Update threads where you can read the entire history.
