Illinois legalized gay marriage as a result of legislation passed and signed by the Governor, not a state court decision.

This really has moved so fast, looking back, thanks to the courts. I remember when Illinois legalized gay marriage in 2013, we were the 15th state to do so. Two years later, we've got 50.
