Interesting map.

Iowa's a little greener than I would have expected, but they've had a few years of legal SSM to figure out that the sky didn't fall and that the institution of the family didn't crumble.

All those neat little river cities in Iowa are far more progressive than you'd think.

Democrat?  As in they support fiscally liberal and populist policies?  Sure.  Progressive in the snobby way that some on this forum flaunt themselves as progressives?  I don't think so.

Thanks for your expertise on Iowa. It is appreciated.

From my personal experience, Eastern Iowa, Northwest Illinois, and Southwest Wisconsin actually is quite progressive on social issues in a very LaFollette tradition. It is traced back to the Scandanavian settlement and communitarian and social justice values that came with it.

Anywho, not so proud of Illinois in this. We should be more progressive on this issue as a whole than both Wisconsin and Iowa.
