Nay

I would abstain like Colin, but I actually take positions on issues. Wink Surprising, yes I know, but I think we should have an officially sanctioned pledge, sorry guys.  I would support removing "under God", but that's all.

Why do you think we should have an officially sanctioned pledge, Senator?

It's kind of hard to explain.  I don't know, it's just an issue I feel kind of strongly about.  I think it creates national unity.

And why didn't you take part in any of the debate?

I've only been semi-active lately, but that's ending soon.  Right before school started, I had summer readings that I hadn't finished Roll Eyes.  Also, school starting kind of got me off track, but I'm into my new schedule now, so I can debate more.  (And I know that you will use the argument that I debated my own bills, well, that's just the way it is Wink)

I don't mean to start the whole debate all over again, now that voting has begun, but I'm sure that national unity did not suddenly improve when the pledge was sanctioned in 1942. Also, it probably prompts some disunity among polytheists, Jehovah's Witnesses, and the like.

I know it didn't, it's just like a personal vendetta of mine.  I'm sure everyone has an issue like this (or maybe I'm just crazy Wink).  I mean, I wouldn't mind too much if this bill were passed, but I'd just rather remove "under god".

It's just a simple Nay vote.  I don't support a national religion or language or anything.  This is just one issue that I'm conservative on.  Don't take it so seriously.
