Constitutional monarchy is not necessarily a bad thing, as long as the monarch is powerless. At worst, it is a silly though harmless tradition, and many people like such traditions.
What would Canada do without the Queen's symbolism? Even if Canada maintained a parliamentary system, a loss of the monarchy would be a loss of a large part of what distinguishes them from the US. Canada is the nation outside of the UK most visited by the Queen, and many Canadians would miss those frequent royal visits. I suppose not all would, especially the Quebecois, but the the Canadian government has done all that it can to please them.
