Not that this makes Boehner in the least bit vulnerable in a general election, but it probably makes him closer to a decision of deciding to retire. Losing his Speakership to the Democrats aside, he's got a 30% approval rating, caving on the debt ceiling as the far-right puts it would cause him to lose the Speakership anyways if the Republicans do hold onto their majority, and he's already got a tough GOP primary challenger in Eric Gurr. If any party leader in the House steps down next year, it will for sure be Boehner, not Pelosi. Nancy Pelosi has a lot more to gain from running again as opposed to John Boehner.

I have to admit, although this Democrat stands zero chance, he could gain national attention next year simply because of facing Boehner if he runs/wins the primary. I know some friends from high school who actually go to Miami, but I wouldn't know if they have this professor. It sure must bring up a lot of heated debate in all of his classes given how conservative the area is.
