Biden has already pledged to name a black woman as his first Supreme Court nominee and a Supreme Court justice is more powerful and influential than a Vice President and their decisions can affect us for years or decades.
Both can and should be black women.

I don't want to hear "It should be the person most qualified". A VP pick is always about pandering or doubling down on a message. And there are multiple qualified and capable black women who can be chosen as VP.

How'd that work out for John McCain?

Really Tammy...you had to choose that picture? We, Democrats, never do ourselves any favors.

Abrams takes public lobbying for the VP job to new heights:

https://www.elle.com/culture/career-politics/a32132819/stacey-abrams-on-voting-rights-covid-19-and-being-vice-president/

Quote
Stacey Abrams does not give the expected answer when I ask if she would accept an offer from former vice president Joe Biden to serve as his 2020 running mate. “Yes. I would be honored,” Abrams says. “I would be an excellent running mate. I have the capacity to attract voters by motivating typically ignored communities. I have a strong history of executive and management experience in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. I’ve spent 25 years in independent study of foreign policy. I am ready to help advance an agenda of restoring America’s place in the world. If I am selected, I am prepared and excited to serve.”

"I would be an excellent running mate" isn't the expected answer to this question.

Ok, at first she was amusing. Now she has become obnoxious.

Dude, get Abrams out of here. She should get a position out of this, but NOT VP.

Biden should go bold and pick Lauren Underwood or Val Demings for VP.  Kamala can be AG.

Lauren Underwood is much more likable than Stacey Abrams.

I agree with you that Underwood is much more likable, but its tough to say she has any more experience than Abrams, which is of course the biggest criticism of Abrams.

Oh yeah. And then that whole thing where Underwood would only be 34 on Inauguration Day...

I'd have my concerns for the campaign, but I would LOVE a Vice President Warren.

Here is an article about Warren and Biden, that seems line it will be Warren as the Veep selection

https://www.kansascity.com/opinion/article242350451.html

Biden and Warren is the ticket and Kennedy and Pressley will be vying for Warren's and Markey's seats🤩🤩🤩

Is the idea that Kennedy would withdraw from the primary against Markey?

VoteVets ad "endorsing" Duckworth for VP.

How does anyone watch that and not feel like she should be the running mate? Maybe the vetting uncovered a skeleton in the closet that disqualifies her (doubt it), but to me she looks like a pick we can all get excited about.

Harris' Wikipedia page has been updated 408 times within the past three weeks, similar to Tim Kaine's right before he was announced.

I really wish Joe Biden would go ahead and put this thread out of its misery.

Only about another month or so.

Can we get up to 250 pages?

I'm really disappointed with that letter advocating for a black woman to be picked. It would be a great symbolic move to select a black woman, but the highest priority should be selecting someone who is ready to become president at any moment starting on day 1. Many of these top candidates have significant issues or experience deficiencies that make them less than ideal selections. Of the names thrown around in these late stages, Kamala Harris and Susan Rice seem to be the only ones ready to take the job on day 1, and Rice has no electoral experience. Biden shouldn't be bullied into selecting someone that is not qualified for the job and/or will make it more difficult to be elected.

Also, if he selects a woman of another color, like Tammy Duckworth, while I get the difference, there shouldn't be this outrage about her selection just because she isn't black. Selecting an Asian American woman for VP would be a monumental step for this country.

Bottom line, let Biden make the right choice for him without preemptively throwing around terms like "evil" or "devil" if he makes the "wrong" choice.

Also I love how pretty much everybody on that list that's online right now is looking at this thread

This is getting close to Election Night pre-game levels

There should be a live thread for election night. I wasn't here in 2016 but was there one for that election?

Site crashed. I don't think there was much posting here at all for a good chunk of the night. I at least couldn't get on.

Is this normal to announce who is going to be on the VP's staff before we even know who the VP is? Why not just wait a hot second until after you announce who the VP is??

I actually got the text! Although a few minutes after the rest of you...

I give this a B+ selection. She's a do-no/little harm choice. She is not my favorite, considering her past criticism of American Catholics and membership in the Knights of Columbus, but I think she would be a great VP for Biden.

LETS GO WIN AN ELECTION!!!
