The first contemporary Summer Olympics I remember happened when I was 9.  The US didn't win any medals.

I do remember a bit from the Summer Olympics from when I was 13, especially Mary Lou.

Which Olympics were those?

The U.S. didn't win any medals in the 1980 Moscow Summer Olympics.  The U.S. boycotted after the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.
