My apologies, I am indeed mistaken. I heard that on CNN once, but I also remember seeing Obama with a blackberry now that you mention it.

It's possible you misunderstood. I don't think Obama is allowed to have a personal cell, but the government gives him a Blackberry/whatever that's probably had it's security updated past standard issue.
