Way to make Connie Mack IV the SECOND worst Representative that district has had over the past few years.

Anyway, a decent Democrat could beat him; but it'd be a one-term hold and Radel will probably resign or retire rather than run for a second term.

This is really hypocritical if he's one of the anti-drug republicans, but nonetheless,  he seems to have a personal problem anyway.

I don't think so, Romney just got 60% in the district.

Scandals (Major ones, not some campaign finance thing) can overrule PVI. See Cao, Joseph and Turner, Bob.

Lizbeth Benequesto would be a good get, but she might be more interested in being Scott's new Lt. Gov.

There's also some of the runners-up from the 2012 GOP primary, like former State Reps. Gary Aubuchon and Paige Kreegel.

Radel will not resign, and will instead take an extended leave of absence

Radel will donate his salary during this absence to a yet unannounced charity.

Surely SW Florida can do better than Connie Mack?

Maybe Rick Scott can see the writing on the wall and run here instead. This is his home district.
