The 'McCarthyism' charge is probably accurate, but it's kind of ironic when it's thrown around by people who make a big deal out of any association with the Koch Brothers.

Except unlike Communists in the 50's, these two actually have profound influence on our federal, state, and local governments.

Nice try though.

Yep, profound influence. The Tea Party and PBS' NOVA are just tentacles of the same beast!  Follow the money!

Actually, the Koch Brother's group, ALEC? It's a major faction in state politics. Several prominent legislators in several states are either leaders in, or affiliated with ALEC. My own state senate president is the Utah state leader of ALEC, and openly so.

So it's not at all like McCarthyism, because those associated with the Kochs are proud to be so.

One of the many reasons this country has been going down the sh*tter since the 80s.

The profession of a law professor pretty entails one to attach themselves to totalitarian governmental theories. After all, these men and women view themselves as the vanguard of law in a nation of rogues. Thus, I have no doubt that Cruz's professors were likely communists but they also may have been fascists or perhaps even one or two was a Filmer like monarchist. Law school breeds totalitarians.
