Vetoed.

While preventing distracted driving is a noble cause, I still have trouble seeing how this law will be enforced. People, quite frankly, in this day and age, will still text and drive, and tough laws against it will not stop it. In fact, I believe that people will put more effort into concealing their phones, which will detract from their attention to the road. Accidents have not decreased, and neither has the practice itself.

If the Assembly is willing to discuss a way that it can be put into action efficiently, I'd be willing to sign it. However, I will not sign a law without a plan of endorsement.

I'll ignore it. I believe that this isn't a big enough deal to set up a referendum anyway.

I honestly couldn't care any less about this bill. Since the ROTA was never a big deal for me anyway, I'll defer to the Assembly.

I have a few concerns with the specifics of this bill, but overall, I'm satisfied. I'm looking to iron out some of the specifics.

I hereby order the immediate arrest and imprisonment of Kyle Mercado and any conspirators in New Hampshire, and the Northeast National Guard to come in and assist them in a tactical arrest as soon as their headquarters is found.

Stay strong, New Hampshire. Kyle Mercado has been captured, and is currently being held at a certain Supermax prison in the Northeast (which we will decline to mention). We will be working on eradicating any sort of support for the Confederation of Atlasian States in this land, and any local leaders will be arrested.

Don't tamper with my home.

Press Release from the Sawx Administration - New York, NY

Recently, I received information that someone had breached the mansion's computer network and gained access to its files. An attempt to delete and remove a press release from the official website of the Governor was detected yesterday at around 5:00 PM, at which point the security system kicked in and threw him out of the network. It was later determined that the hacker had not gained access to any files, though his or her identity is unknown. Attached is a release from the Governor:

"Well, it's finally gotten to this point. Some dirty terrorist has breached our network - whether it be because of the liberation of my homeland from terrorist bastards, some drug zealot who believes that certain plants are great evils that should be illegalized, or some other policy that I've worked to oppose. I promise all of you, Northeast - we will find these sons-of-bitches, and we will eradicate them as we did before."

Great job, Governor. The reward for any information on the hacker's whereabouts is $1 million, and can be submitted to our special hotline.

We have a lead. It turns out that a press release was indeed deleted by hackers yesterday. We have also found out that this hacker is connected to the Confederation of Atlasian States, and are currently taking measures to make sure this never happens again.

While the rest of the act sounds good, I don't feel like we should be changing something as important as our motto on a whim. Our official motto of the Northeast is "The passion of glory is the torch of the mind," not "F**k the Cowboys" or "Party and Bullsh*t". I feel like the current motto is adequate, and that specific section was arbitrary.

If it's removed and sent back without that provision, I'd be willing to sign the bill.

As I have said before, illegalizing drugs only emboldens cartels and gangs and increases crime in our cities. My friend and colleague, Dr. Cynic, put it best: it is better that the drug trade be legal and controlled than illegal and rampant. I'm vetoing this bill to keep the supply of drugs in the hands of the free market and out of the gangs.

Late-Term Abortion Restriction Act

Section 1: Restriction and Exception
1. Abortion in the third trimester of a pregnancy, hereby defined as the 28th estimated week of gestation, shall not be performed in the Republic of Atlasia.
2. Restrictions on abortion shall not apply in the following circumstances: a. The pregnancy threatening the life of the mother. b. The pregnancy showing signs of severe birth defect. (For the purposes of this text, a severe birth defect is defined as being an abnormality, which produces a likely chance that the child will be afflicted with immense pain, have a severely limited functioning capacity, or be at significant risk of an early death). c. The health of the mother, as determined by a primary care physician independent of the medical professional performing the abortion.

Section 2: Criminal Penalty
1. Any individual who performs an abortion in the third trimester outside of the previously mentioned exceptions receives a two year ban from work as a medical professional.

~Sawx

Now that we have an incentive for people to adopt instead of look for black market abortions, I feel less reluctant on signing this bill.

Altsomn Stmarken has been deregistered and banned for the creation/flooding of the Northeast with socks.

Therefore, there is a new vacancy, and I have decided to appoint RGN to the Assembly to take his place for the three or so days he's there.

I'd also like to offer my congratulations to all of the Representatives that won election, and I'd also like to offer my best wishes to cinyc, who ran against me. Let's work to build a great Northeast together.
