Since rpryor is currently away right now, he's asked me to tabulate the results. Obviously, there's a bit of controversy going on, considering the mods hastily acted on JoMCaR/twistory's ban. My legal counsel currently says that since the bans were under false pretense, the de-registration does not count, and all votes are valid and twistory123's candidacy is also valid. It's also worth noting that the Northeast Electoral Commission's recommendations were not passed in time, so we will be going by the old way of doing things.

VOTE LIST:

1: RGN, twistory, Castro, pika, PGH
2: pika, Castro, RGN, twistory, PGH, Person
3: Person, pgh, Castro, pika, twistory, RGN
4: RGN, twistory, Castro, pika, DemPGH, Person
5: PGH, person, Castro, pika, twistory, RGN
6: twistory, RGN, pikachu, Castro
7: RGN, pika, twistory, Castro, PGH, person
8: Castro, pika, RGN, twistory, rpryor
9: PGH, a person, Castro, pikachu, RGN, twistory
10: Castro, pika, PGH, RGN, twistory, person
11: pika, Castro, RGN, person, PGH, twistory
12: person, PGH, Castro, pika
13: pika, person, PGH, RGN, Castro, twistory
14: Castro, pika, PGH, RGN
15: RGN, twistory, Castro, pika, PGH
16: twistory, RGN, pikachu, Castro, person
17: twistory, RGN, pikachu, Castro, person
18: Castro, person
19: RGN, twistory, Castro, pikachu
20: PGH, person
21: Castro, PGH, pikachu, RGN, person
22: Castro, pikachu, RGN, twistory, pgh, person
23: PGH, a person, Castro, pikachu, twistory, RGN
24: a person, PGH, Castro, pikachu, RGN, twistory
25: twistory, RGN, pikachu, Castro, a Person
26: a Person, PGH
27: pika, Castro, rgn, twistory, demPGH, a Person
28: twistory, a Person

28 valid ballots/(5 seats up+1) + 1 = 5.667. The fraction is dropped, making the quota 5.

ROUND 1:
Castro: 6
RGN: 5
Twistory: 5

pikachu: 4
PGH: 4
evergreen: 4

Castro2020 is elected to the Assembly with surplus. His surplus vote will be 0.167 for each vote, transferring 4 votes to Pikachu, one vote to DemPGH, and one vote to a Person. RGN and twistory123 are elected without surpluses.

ROUND 2:
Castro: 5
RGN: 5
twistory: 5

pikachu: 4.667
PGH: 4.167
evergreen: 4.167

Since no candidates met the quota, the lowest amount of votes must be eliminated. Since there is a tie between DemPGH and evergreen for the lowest amount of votes, and it must be broken by a preference count.

DemPGH and evergreen both have four 1st preferences. Therefore, we must proceed to second preferences.

evergreen has 7 second preferences. DemPGH has five. Therefore, the tie is broken in favor of evergreen, and DemPGH is eliminated for having the lowest amount of votes.

ROUND 3:
Castro: 5
RGN: 5
twistory: 5
pikachu: 4.667
evergreen: 4.167
DemPGH: 4.167 (tie)

There are five candidates left for five seats.

Therefore, I hereby certify that Castro2020, RGN, twistory, pikachu, and a Person have been elected to the Northeast Assembly.

Surely Twistory is still counted as a sock?

He's been disproven, I have enough evidence to believe that he isn't a sock, and according to BK, his unban is just waiting on Nym.

The account AutumnLeaf seems to exist for the sole purpose of voting Twistory in. That seems to be basically the equivalent of a sock if an account exists as a zombie of another account for all intents and purposes. That would invalidate AutumnLeaf, and therefore Twistory from the voting booth.

AutumnLeaf and twistory both have 10 posts in the last 56 days, and the CCJA specifically states that the crime of voter fraud only applies to "the creation of identities other than one's primary identity". I have information (that I won't release because it could compromise his privacy) proving that they're both two separate people, and Bacon King, JoMCaR, and twistory all back this information up.

Meatpuppetry is definitely sketchy, but this seems to be done through legal means. It is what it is.

Yes. As far as Atlasia goes, meatpuppetry is simply frowned upon.

It has been indicated to me that twistory123 will be without his Internet connection. Therefore, in the great tradition of our region, we have a special election next weekend.

All those who are willing to declare, feel free.

I will nominate rpryor03 to serve out Talleyrand's term in the Senate, beginning July 3rd. Like I did for appointing DemPGH, he was next in line in the election, and as such, there will be a special election beginning July 10th for all Northeastern citizens.

He should be back soon enough after his LOA. This also means I'll be appointing a new CJO, which I'm in the process of doing.

I feel like this adds some identity, while not changing things purely for the sake of changing things.

I'm glad we can finally fix the confusing clusterfyck that was our old elections system.

Also, since it's a holiday weekend, the Northeast Assembly election and the Northeast Senate special election will both be on the weekend of the 10th.

This is just to re-introduce it, since there's a new Assembly.

Apparently Castro2020 resigned, so we need to have another special election next week.

Antineutrino's vote invalid due to not meeting activity requirements

39 votes/(1 seat up+1)+1=15.5

rounds down to quota=15

since Dallasfan did not write himself in or declare an acceptance of write-ins, his preferences get bumped down.

14 rpryor
15 clyde
1 EX

According to our election laws, we must do a count of second preferences. The result of this count is:

7 rpryor
6 clyde
17 EX/NA

Therefore, I can hereby certify that rpryor03 has been elected to the Atlasian Senate, representing the Northeast.

19 votes/(1 seat+1) +1= 11

quota 10

13 demPGH
6 cinyc

Therefore, I hereby certify that DemPGH has been elected to the Northeast Assembly.

Thank you for the catch, has been re-certified and noted.

Again, Clyde1998 has been elected to the Senate. (oversight on valid voters)

After a quick look at the non-obvious voters (I doubt obvious active folks like President Bore or the Senators failed the activity requirements but didn't necessarily check), I don't think anyone else failed the activity requirements.

RG Griff - is it safe to assume that everyone else who voted in the election was registered in the Northeast?

I'm going by the End to the Zombie Apocalypse Act and operating under the premise that it's 10 posts in 8 weeks.

This means that since Antineutrino's 10th post (which was on April 24th) was more than 8 weeks from the start of the election, his vote is invalid.

I'm going by the End to the Zombie Apocalypse Act and operating under the premise that it's 10 posts in 8 weeks.

This means that since Antineutrino's 10th post (which was on April 24th) was more than 8 weeks from the start of the election, his vote is invalid.

Check Myner Peeperkorn, too.  I don't think you can count anything posted on or after the start of the election on July 10 as part of the 10 posts.  His 10th post was on May 8, which is more than 8 weeks before July 10.

Everyone other than Antineutrino and Peeperkorn seem fine, at least on the activity front.  I asked to RG to confirm everyone who voted was properly registered in the Northeast.

Oh sh*t. I totally overlooked that.

Everyone else checks out. This also means that we have to go back to a pref count, where rpryor loses Peeperkorn's pref and Clyde loses Antineutrino's pref. The count is 7-6 in favor of rpryor, so rpryor03 has been elected to the Senate.

Is it ironic that earlier today I was watching the National Geographic documentary on the 2000s, which began with none other than Florida? Wink

Holy hell. So rpryor won, by one preference, in a tiebreaker count caused by a vote that was literally twenty seconds before the deadline.

This has to be the closest election in the history of Atlasia.

I would assume so, since we don't have any designated election procedure for a special regional senate election other than the federal guidelines.

I've been operating under the Northeast Clarity Act's premises, assuming that the wording applies to all elections in the Northeast.

Very well then. I will be appointing JoMCaR to replace Castro2020 in the Assembly.

I also will be appointing cinyc to the vacant office of Chief Judicial Officer.
