Gary Johnson Campaign Strategy:
Our main focus will be states where Libertarians/Independents have or done well at state level in the past. Our GOTV focus is on people who do not regularly vote, as well as getting people inspired and enthused. Freedom rallies will be held across all states. The Johnson Campaign main HQ is based in Albuquerque, NM.
Strategy Map/Main Focus States:

The Johnson Campaign has also hired canvassing teams throughout these states, going door-to-door. These teams are filled with motivated and motivating people. Phone banks are running in each major city on the map.

LIBERTARIAN CONVENTION SPEAKERS:

Harry Browne, Fmr. Libertarian Nominee
Freedom, freedom is what this country stands for, yet none of our politicians stand for freedom, they stand for ever increasing regulations, infringe on our civil liberties, and we continue to elect them! But now we have a real choice, instead of the endless two-party system, we have a chance to end this endless corruption of our country! Let’s stand together, and elect candidates that stand for liberty, let’s vote Libertarian in this election! Vote in the one candidate for president that stands for freedom and liberty! Vote Gary Johnson!

Buddy Roemer, Governor of Louisana
Today there is only one candidate that is running for the American people, and that is Gary Johnson! Too long as this country suffered under a two-party system! We have two parties that have consistently tried to take our freedoms and our liberties, well no longer! Today I am announcing that I am forming American’s Elect, an organization that will help fund independent and third-party candidates get on the ballot. We will push and lobby for electoral reform that breaks the stranglehold of the two-party system! And today we are starting that initiative by electing Gary Johnson to the White House!

Sarah Palin, Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska
Political freedom is what brings us here today! We have two candidates that are virtually identical! There is no more choice between the two parties, instead we need someone that will stand for freedom, liberty, and the American People! Let’s shake the system up, let’s fight for what’s right, let’s elect Gary Johnson to the White House, and show the establishment who really matters, the American People!

Barry Goldwater, U.S. Rep. from California
Long ago my father fought for the principles of liberty as senator, but unfortunately, both parties have strayed from their roots and nominated candidates that will not fight for the freedoms of Americans. Instead they take away our freedoms and liberty under the guise of “safety.” As Jefferson put it, “I would rather have dangerous liberty, than safe slavery.” Too long have we let our liberties slip through our hands, we must fight for them! The only way to do that is to elect someone who will protect our liberties at all costs! We need Gary Johnson in the White House, he is the only one who will protect our liberties and freedoms.

Clint Eastwood, Actor
No other candidates in this race support the second amendment! Each one has supported or enacted unconstitutional gun control measures! We don’t need scared little kitty-cats in Washington! We need real leaders with real guts! The only candidate I can support is Gary Johnson, he’s the only one ready to be president. He’s the only one that will protect our freedoms!

Ross Perot, Founder of the Reform Party
When I ran for president In 1992 and 1996, I focused on changing Washington. Now Governor Johnson Is running on a similar platform. While it is true we are not united on all issues, the principles of freedom and liberty remain the same! That is why I endorse Governor Johnson for President,  he represents true change in the White House, he will bring about an end to the corruption, and listen to the people! Let's Live Free with President Johnson!

Ron Paul, U.S. Rep from Texas
For the past several years I have been fighting for liberty in congress, and most of the time I have been working alone. But in the last few years there has been a surge in Liberty! You the people demand it! Neither of the Democrats or the Republicans have fielded a candidate will fight for you! Instead they have backed the establishment, and not the American people! We need a president of the people! We need real constitutional leadership in the White House! That leader is Gary Johnson! He as governor fought for his citizens and made his state great! He worked in a state that is 2-1 democratic as a republican, and still won! Now he is running as an independent for president and is the obvious choice. Neither of these candidates have anything to show compared to Gary Johnson!

William Weld, Governor of Massachusetts
Experience, conviction, determined. Those are words that describe Gary Johnson, he has the experience as Governor of New Mexico, the conviction to stand up for what he believes in, and knows how to lead. Determined, Governor Johnson never faltered when he led New Mexico, and now he is running to lead the United States. He is the only candidate that I trust to be president, he is no Washington insider, and he stands only for the American people, unlike the other candidates. He is the only candidate that is right for this country.

Jesse Ventura, Governor of Minnesota
As Governor of Minnesota, as a Navy UDT, and as a professional wrestler, I have never met anyone as tough as Gary Johnson! I am honored that he would pick me to be his vice-president, his work in New Mexico, and his hard work in keeping himself healthy shows me that he is the best choice for president! We’ve been stuck a two-party system for so long, and we both stand against it! We know the American People stand against it as well! No longer will we be tied down by party lines! I know together we can build a coalition of independents, Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, Greens and anyone who doesn’t even vote! The message of liberty and freedom appeals to everyone, and together with Governor Johnson, we can win!

Gary Johnson, Governor of New Mexico, Libertarian Party Nominee
I thank this party for your nomination! We have worked long and hard on this campaign for the principles of liberty and freedom! But our fight is not yet over! We have only a few months before this election, but I know we have a chance to shake things up and WIN! We stand for things that everyone believes in! We have things to offer that neither party nominee offers! Our goal is economic freedom, no more endless debt, no more taxing those who work for a living! We need programs that work, and to look at everything as a cost-benefit analysis, instead of the endless lobbying by big corporations! I have the background as Governor of New Mexico, whereas the other candidates have never had to lead an executive branch AND work with a divided congress! We have a chance to lead, a chance to make true change, and make the government follow the will of the people! Let’s take this fight to the White House, let’s take down this endless corruption, this endless attack against freedoms illegal! Let’s work together, and LIVE FREE!

Interview with Gary Johnson:

Reporter: Governor Johnson, now that both Vice-President Giuliani and Senator Biden have both chosen vice-presidential nominees, what are your opinions on both the nominees and the ticket as a whole?

Johnson: Well, you can probably guess my reaction, I see both of these choices as more of the same! Senator Lincoln is not even popular in her home state, and Senator Hutchinson is just another Washington insider. Both these tickets represent more of the same! One of my biggest issues is that none of them have any military experience! That was one of my biggest factors in choosing Governor Ventura, not only does he have successful gubernatorial record, but also has military experience! Ultimately, I believe that both these choices lose credibility.

Gary Johnson Campaign Schedule:

September 10th:
Town Hall and GOTV in Sierra Vista, AZ
Barnstorm and GOTV in Sahuarita, AZ
Rally and Town Hall, GOTV in Tuscon, AZ

Excerpt from Town Hall:
“How will you protect social security? Our seniors rely on this, and I know that the Libertarian party has always wanted to eliminate social security.”

“First off, I am not going to eliminate social security, our government made a promise that the money would be there for the seniors who paid into it. I would like to transition social security out, with a more free market solution. But those who paid into it, they will get their checks! Instead of spending so much money in useless wars, we should put that money in the social security fund while we work on a replacement.”

Sept. 11th:
Attending Memorial services

September 12th:
Town Hall and Barnstorm/GOTV in Casas Adobes, AZ
Barnstorm/GOTV and Town Hall in Casa Grande, AZ
Town Hall and GOTV in Maricopa, AZ
Interview with 60 Minutes

Excerpt from interview:

Reporter: “Governor Johnson, many have questioned what issues you find most important. What specific things do you wish to change?”

Johnson: “Specifically, I plan to eliminate these endless layers of bureaucracy and make government more local. We have these endless problems with “the government here to help.” We need less intrusive government into our personal lives, and instead focusing on real problems like the housing bubble and our ever growing energy problems. We need to focus on the real issues, not pointless ideas like raising the national minimum wage.”

Reporter: “So, what is your position on the minimum wage?”

Johnson: “Well, that is an issue to be left up to the states. I personally am against a minimum wage, as it hurts the poor rather than help. We need a competitive labor force, and we can’t do that by setting price floors and ceilings. A wage should be between an employee and an employer. The free market handles things rather well, and more government intervention will not help the labor force.”

September 13th:
Rally, Town Hall and GOTV in Mesa, AZ
Town Hall and Barnstorm Glendale, AZ
Rally, Speech and GOTV in Phoenix, AZ

September 14th:
Barnstorm and Town Hall in New River, AZ

September 17th:

“Lets prove that it’s the American People that decide this race, not big money! We need someone who will work for the American people! No more establishment career politicians and lobbyists! We don’t need someone who owes political favors! We need leadership, and someone that will fight for your rights!”

Only one candidate has a plan for healthcare that will not bankrupt the nation. That will give you a choice in your healthcare plans. No more monopolies, big pharma, instead a people's healthcare. Governor Johnson's plan is to reduce the regulation on buying healthcare, allow you to buy healthcare across state lines, and encourage true competition in the healthcare industry. Who do you trust when it comes to healthcare? The government *show picture of run down VA hospitals and seniors looking through medicare and medicaid pamphlets* or charities and free market solutions? *show well kept private hospitals, and charity hospitals* Vote for a choice in healthcare, vote Gary Johnson this November.

We need a leader who can rise above party politics, a leader who is an outsider to Washington. A leader that is beholden only to the people he serves. Gary Johnson did that has Governor of New Mexico, now he is bringing his leadership to the national level. As president he will not be tied down with political favors, instead he will choose what is best for the country as a whole. Let's take Washington back, let's vote Gary Johnson.

Gary Johnson Debate Answers:

I find that is a combination of the three, the fact of the matter is that we have no way of knowing who crosses the U.S.-Mexico border. That in itself should be frightening. Not only that, but there are companies that hire these illegal immigrants, which is harmful to hard working Americans. Unfortunately, many of these immigrants are also fleeing the harsh conditions of Mexico. We are blessed with the greatest nation on earth, with rich opportunities.

My solution is two fold. Rather than be concerned with the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan, strategically place them along the border to halt illegals. I do not want any illegals harmed, but instead turned away. Secondly on the domestic front, we reduce the amount of free programs that we give to illegal immigrants, and reform our immigration process. I'd rather we let more people legally through, and be able to screen them, rather than having 8,000 unknowns crossing the border.

I see the concept too often used to excuse unnecessary wars. While I agree that if we have 100% certain information of an imminent attack on the United States we should respond with necessary force, there is the distinct possibility of war propaganda. There has not been any circumstances like that in the history of the United States.

If we are going to go to war, we need a declaration, or in our current circumstances we need to find Osama Bin Laden, eliminate him, and then leave! No more nation-building in the guise of attacking terrorism.  These endless wars are hurting our economy, and our reputation around the world.

Well ultimately we need real spending cuts, not reducing the amount of increase in spending. If we cut our spending to 1992 levels, we could eliminate the federal income tax. We need across the board spending cuts, and across the board tax cuts. This is not a difficult problem to solve, but no one wants to give on cutting spending. Democrats refuse to cut a penny of social program spending and Republicans refuse to cut a penny of military spending.

What we need to do is let states and charities handle social welfare, and the national government should defend the United States and protect our currency. We've seen too much nation-building, too many programs, too much inflation, and too much debt! States should compete with each other economically, instead of the Federal Government subsidizing companies that should be self-sufficient and wasting our tax dollars.

Obviously I respect all these men on stage, though I disagree with them on many issues. However, unlike the rest of these men I have executive experience, I was Governor of New Mexico for two terms, working with a democratic congress and still balanced the budget every year in office. My state was number one for job growth during that time. I know what it is like to work with a divided congress, and as an Independent I will have to work with both parties, leading to real reform.

Unlike the others I want a Constitutional America, one where we have the freedom to choose how we lead our personal lives, where we are not burdened by heavy taxes. I am the only candidate here that supports the 2nd Amendment, and the 4th Amendment. I am the candidate that gets the most money from the American troops, and the only candidate who thought to chose someone with military experience to lead this country with me.

Gary Johnson Closing Statement:

I wish first to thank all of those that tuned in to watch tonight, as well as our Moderator, Congressman Kucinich, Vice-President Giuliani, and Senator Biden. We have all made our voices heard to you, the American voter. My message is and always has been a voice of the people, and a voice for the freedom this country has stood for.

The vice-president is correct we are at a crossroads, however the three of them offer similar roads. I however represent a true change in the politics of this great nation. This is why I am here, because we need a leader in the White House that represents the people and is beholden unto the people. Someone who does not owe political favors, someone who will have to work with congress in a nonpartisan way, and has the guts to stand up for the Constitution.

My path believes in true economic prosperity, a strong defense, and protection of our civil liberties. Many here believe that this is not possible, but I made it happen in New Mexico, and I can make it happen as President. With you the American people, we can change Washington D.C for the better! I stand for principled leadership, I stand for the Constitution, and I stand for the American people, and I want you to LIVE FREE! Thank you and God bless!

Jesse Ventura Debate Responses:

Quote

Well to start with, unlike the rest of them, I've had experience as Governor of Minnesota, and served in the military. I know how to act as an independent voice, rather than towing party line unlike others here on stage. I have proven and  tested leadership. Unlike the rest I don't have a party platform that I am confined to, instead only ideas that will make America great again.

I don't owe any political favors either, I am not a Washington insider, I am here to lead and get the job done rather than to push an agenda. I know what the military needs, and it isn't big spending, but efficiency. I know our how our foreign policy should work. When you vote Gary Johnson/Jesse Ventura this November you can rest assured that you have a President and Vice-President making this country right. Not someone who has to follow party lines.

I find this whole argument rather ridiculous! Why is the Government even authorized to give licenses and say who can and cannot get married? That's an individual's choice! Saying that the government has the authority to give licenses dealing in affairs that it has no business in! This is a direct violation of our civil liberties! Instead we should have civil unions for all, different religions and people groups have different definitions of marriage, the government should remain neutral on the issue. As Vice-President I would challenge the Constitutionality of these licenses. This is taking the government too far into our personal lives.

First off is to create economic recovery zones in those areas to help stimulate the economy. We need to create more jobs and get businesses off the ground in those areas. Secondly is improve the quality of our public education system, and help create students who are able to work or are able to go to college. Then we need to eliminate the Federal Income tax and replace it with a national sales tax that exempts necessities like Food, Water, Clothing and Medicine. That's also not taking into account that the crime rate affects jobs! No company wants to take their jobs to a city with a high tax rate or a high crime rate. We should reduce penalties for non-violent crime and work on improving the education system so we don't have more kids getting involved in crime.

As a national executive, there is only so much the federal government can do for a city. The best option in Cleveland is a shakeup of leadership. That is why we need more independents in office, so that we can think up original solutions rather than tow a party line.

First off I'd like to thank all the other candidates for coming out tonight, our moderator Gwen here, and everyone who tuned in to hear all of us. Our country is a great one founded on great principles, and that is something we need to return to. President Washington warned against political parties, and it is obvious why. We need an independent voice, one who will do what is best for America, not the best for their party. We need to continue a fight for liberty, that fight is never ending, we the American people must be ever vigilant, and that is why Governor Johnson and I are running.

Our fight is for you, the American people, to win an upward battle for peace and prosperity. We bring an independent voice, one not tied down to a party label. We are not beholden to lobbyists, political favors, or big money backers. We as President and Vice-President are beholden to you, the American Public. Let's fight for the Constitution, let's fight for liberty and prosperity, let's fight for you, the every-day American! Thank you and good night.
