Thank you Clarence, and with great honor I, of course, accept your offer to be your running mate. Folks, I am one who believes that this country, the land of opportunity, will always have its brightest days ahead of us, if we work together, to build up this great land. I can assure you that a vote for Clarence is a vote for a man who will not sit down quietly while his country needs him, and I will be there to stand up for the same ideals as him. I will have more to come later, but I want to you to consider this ticket, because we both believe in the ideals that make this country, the greatest place on Earth.

Thank You,

Matt

Will a President Clarence veto any attempt to legalize canine consumption?
He will have the VP's encouragement. Tongue

I am sure some one whose culture includes eating dogs would feel the same about any one attempting to ban consumption!

I will tell you that I frankly consider the issue to be far down on the list of important issues to address... while it was the first one Matt and I have been questioned about, it will not be a priority
Agreed, it is not a priority for me either, also I, and I'm sure Clarence would enjoy questions about more current issues.

What is your infrastructure vision for Atlasia in the future?
One of my regrets is not getting a bill done with Kalwejt and Snowguy... but this was a major issue in my special Senate election specifically in terms of transportation. I know "looking to Europe" is sometimes frowned upon, but this is one area in which we must- the infrastructure over there is exceptional and it is maintained by commitment of the national govt. Whether that is in the execution or simply supervision and division of regional projects I am not yet sure...

Infrastructure is an important initiative for two reasons- it provides jobs and improves lives. Adding two lanes to a highway where needed is not a frivolous project... it will reap benefits for decades to come. In terms of specific areas of need for construction or renovation- I can't speak to that but I will tell you a priority will be mass transit and high speed rail...good for the environment and for meeting citizen's needs. The transportation in Germany in particular is a model for what it would look like here- and while that cannot be done in one term, we can set the wheels in motion

Yes, I believe we need an overhaul of some kind when it comes to transportation in this country. I know that the Northeast region already has a very good High Speed rail system, and a High Speed Rail System is currently being debated in the Mideast Region. If we then start connecting the regions, it could reap great economic and transportational gains. As Clarence said, I know of numerous areas in this country that need something, just as simple as extra lanes for the interstate that runs through their city or town. Also many roads, particularly those in areas which experience tough winters annually, are in need of repair. Also, we must not forget our rural areas when discussing highway improvements, trust me I speak from experience, when I say that some roads in rural areas of our country are in brutal condition. For minor roads, I think it should be left to the transportation departments of the respective states and regions. Basically I believe our transportation system needs an overhaul to be more efficient, and environmentally friendly, and to provide those who cannot afford an automobile, or those who are having a hard time paying to fill their car at the pump, with free or inexpensive public transportation.

Every issue is a current issue. Notice the talk about repealing good laws that weren't assumed to be issues only a few weeks ago? This could very well reemerge and dog lovers demand answers. FTR, I was briefly a member of the I Love Puppies Party and I worked on the Canine Protection Act with Bgwah so the issue is important to many of us. Smiley
I recognize that which is whyI give each issue its due attention... including this one. I am simply stating that it won't be a priority for a clarence/Matt administration

I didn't mean to sound accusatory, I appreciate the swift response even though i disagree with your position. I just wanted to remind Matt that often times things that don't seem like they will be an issue pop up out of nowhere. In fact, the Canine Protection Act received little to no opposition, so the fact that the Freedom to Eat Act showed up out of nowhere took a lot of us by surprise. Even something that seems like a non-issue now could be the next big deal tomorrow. Such is Atlasia. Smiley
I'm sorry if I came off as dismissive, I certainly wasn't trying to. And I understand this could be an issue that will pop up again in a Clarence/Matt administration. Smiley

I'm ecstatic that at least one candidate in the race still supports freedoms of those with different cultural habits, I'm just sorry I couldn't have endorsed this ticket sooner.
Thanks very much, Dereich!
My reasoning isn't that I want to stand in the way of anyone's freedoms, but thanks Dereich! Smiley

Questions for me and Clarence?

We'd be more than happy to answer them. Smiley

I look forward to engaging in debate with DemPGH, it will be a challenging ordeal, but I'll do my best to come prepared. Anyway not sure where Clarence stands in this issue, but I know I stand with Israel. I hope they keep in mind the possible impact that air strikes like those of this past weekend could have on civilians, but I believe standing up to Hezbollah is a major priority. Of course I oppose any type of air/drone strikes when they put civilians in harms way, but while we can tell them we are displeased with a particular action, I believe it is very important to support our truest ally in the Middle East.

After hearing the news about my friend Clarence, and since I had no idea what happened until this morning, I will gladly rejoin the ticket if he makes a full recovery and comes back, and wants to do so. I understand he has much bigger issues to deal with then this game we play, but if he wants to do this as something to take his mind off of all of this, I will rejoin his ticket and do my best. I am not rejoining at the moment, because he may not care about this at the moment, and rightfully so, but I am still here if he is interested.

There are certainly much bigger concerns, but as I said above, I will rejoin this campaign, if my dear friend Clarence still wants to run. I am sorry, as I had no idea about his heart attack until this morning. If he doesn't want to run I fully understand, Atlasia is just a game we play, and has no real effect on real life. But it is a great place to come when, for a little while anyway, you don't want to worry about troubles happening in the real world. So, while this campaign hasn't been good so far, it's certainly not Clarence's fault, and I hope he makes a full recovery, and lives for many more years! I'll be praying for you my friend. Smiley

Is anyone going to pick up the torch for Clarence and continue his campaign and fight for his ideals?
I'm hoping Clarence will make a full recovery, but if he doesn't want to do this campaign, and of course it's understood, there are much bigger things going on, I have someone who is well respected, and wants to be my running mate. Smiley
