Which state has the worst name?

Washington should be named something like Columbia, Rainier, Cascadia, Olympia, Salish, etc.

Nookshack, Muckleshoot, Suquamish, Klickitat... lots of good names to choose from.

Surprised nobody mentioned West Virginia. They should have named it something original.

Yeah, West Virginia seems particularly lazy.  But if WV has the worst name, then they'd have the worst of everything.

Could have been worse, Thomas Jefferson's plan for the Northwest Territory involved the following state names:

Sylvania, Michigania, Cheronesus, Assenisippis, Metropotamia, Illinoia, Saratoga, Washington, Polypotamia, and Pelipsia.
