THIRD Boss Abortion Act!
«
on:
July 27, 2004, 09:53:24 PM »
I detirmened on getting an abortion bill through the senate before I am gerrymandered out.
Here it is:
No abortions shall be permitted after the 90th day of a pregnancy, unless:
1. The life or health of the woman is determined to be in question by a certified medical practicioner.
2. The pregnancy was caused by rape or incest.
You guys got your 'practicioner' and your 'rape/incest'. No vote this thing through!

90 days, OK
Practictioner, good
Rape, incest, good
I can support this. But, I personally don't think we need yet another debate on tis. I'm not voming back to this debate until a vote, if there actually is a vote upcoming.

There is a new president now. Hopefully this bastard has some sense.

Senator Tweed, please tell the UAC senators why they should vote for your bill when you have said that you will vote down any bill that the UAC proposes?

No. This bill is a compromise, molded by debate we have already had on this topic on the previous two bills.

Government would be getting involved to protect an innocent life. Thank you, Boss Tweed, for trying again to get a bill passed that will protect the rights of the unborn. I would like to see abortion outlawed at all times except for the cases of rape and if the life of the mother is at risk but this bill is a step in the right direction.

I urge the Senate to oppose this. I feel that 90 days is much too restrictive for women who live in rural areas such as where I live, who would have to travel hundreds of miles to an abortion clinic and may be unable to get time off of work on such short notice. Women often do not know they are pregnant until 30-45 days into the pregnancy, leaving perhaps only 6 weeks in which to obtain the abortion. I would like to know what the members of the Senate think that a woman who lives far from an abortion clinic and works full time at a job that is difficult to get time off from should do in this case. Or what about women who do not have access to their own car, and thus cannot easily make this trip on such short notice?
I also realize I am not a senator and thus my questions probably won't be answered, but what would the punishment be for having an abortion after 90 days? Would it be considered equivalent to murder? Thus, in some states, women and doctors could both get the death penalty for a 91st day abortion? I'd like some clarification as to exactly what the punishment is for having an abortion after this deadline, both for the mother and the doctor.
I support a 150 day deadline, as this is approximately the record for the earliest that a fetus has been born in a pregnancy and survived outside the womb.

The vote currently stands at 5 votes in favour to 1 vote against.
I am torn on this issue and tend to agree with Secretary of State Nym90 on this issue.
I would like to hear on how the Senator (Tweed) thinks those administering abortions after the 90th day should be punished.
