Things like this happen when candidates saturate the airwaves for a month and a half.

This is clearly incorrect. There is no way a Democrat will win Indiana in November, even in a landslide.

Still though... McCain may have to spend money here....and if things don't get better, there's no chance in hell that he will win this election.

*McCain leads in Massachusetts*

"Junk poll. This state is far too Democratic to switch over or even be competitive. Obama will still break 60% in November."

*Obama leads in Indiana*

"McCain will have to spend money here and his chances are looking slim! He's screwed."

We don't know what will happen in Nov. I would love to see MA vote for McCain and IN vote for Obama, but who knows.

When did McCain ever lead in Massachusetts? Like in January when polls were even more ridiculous than they are now?

Well, Obama and Clinton are leading. Also, Obama will have the money to spend in Indiana. McCain will not have the money to spend in Massachusetts. Obama will have the fired-up grassroots volunteer base to use in Indiana. McCain will not have that in Massachusetts. Obama (and even Clinton to an extent) have much greater opportunities for expanding the map than McCain does.

LOL. Just like that poll suggesting that McCain was leading in MA.

Indiana won't be competitive this November, though if polls are like this come late October, McCain should be worried, just like Obama or Clinton should be worried in MA ;).

Is there a state where Obama won't spend money? From the looks of it, he'll have enough money to run ads constantly in all 50 states--at least according to his supporters.

"Obama will have enough money to spend in Nebraska and make McCain fight for the state."

He's got to make up for the pittance the DNC has to spend right now in order to fully implement Dean's 50-state strategy.  Duh.

that said, an ad buy in Omaha has got to be dirt cheap...not that Obama should. He won't win Nebraska OR Indiana, though he will outperform Kerry in both.

By quite a bit, actually. I am guessing that Obama will run ads in states where Kerry got at least 44% of the vote and McCain will only be able to run ads in states where Bush got at least 49%.

Here are the maps-

(
)
Obama will be able to run ads in EVERY possible state he could, in his wildest dreams, win.

McCain OTOH-

(
)
Has to defend EVERY STATE BUSH WON

The REAL swing states this year-

Obama would probably be better served spending his money in Nebraska, the Dakotas, Montana, and Alaska, instead of Arkansas and West Virginia.

Really, ad buys in the Mountain West states are dirt cheap, and Obama really only needs to swing a couple thousand people to win some of those states, considering he's already polling at 45% or so in most of them.

I think this is kind of silly.  Indiana is a DEEP red state, and it would be an absolute shocker if Obama can actually get the state.  Must I remind you that Bush won by 20% in the state?

If Obama was smart he would lock up Pennsylvania and Colorado before he spent a penny in Indiana. But then again his performance in suburban Indianapolis was pretty impressive. Let us wait and see.
