if anywhere close to true McCain would have great difficulty winning the nationwide popular vote.

He'd need to win about 54% of the national popular vote, unless he gets super-blown out in the South or something.

California won't go 60% for the Democrats. Too many big Republican strongholds for that to happen.

I will say that I'm perplexed by the leftward veer in California polling this year, but come on.
