Title: Counties that voted for James Cox in 1920 and Charles Hughes in 1916 Post by: RBH on January 03, 2007, 10:02:13 PM Manistee County, Michigan could be the only county where Cox topped Wilson. And Cox also put up the best percentage for a Democrat there between Grover Cleveland and FDR.
I don't know how to explain that though. It was at the time a huge logging area, but as for why Manistee would've been so big on Cox I can't say (especially since it's not hugely different demographically from those counties around it).
